Caffè Concerto shouldn’t be called a chain. London’s simple-yet-chic cafe restaurant shines with its ceilings dripping elaborate chandeliers and its tables adorned with goblets and china. London is bustling with its countless numbers of pubs that crawl the vast expanse of streets and passageways of the city. But when you want to mix a bit of European flare with local tradition, Caffè Concerto knows how to blend.
A robust ristretto kicks things off for a very English breakfast…à l’Italien. Then out come the scene stealers. While some may consider a traditional English Breakfast a fabulous mess of runny eggs, beans and sausage all swimming together on the same plate, Caffè Concerto re-imagines such fare.

Here a thick Belgian waffle lightly dusted with powdered sugar is crowned with a dollop of scrambled eggs. The eggs are almost toasty, never runny. The waffle is thick and both parts savory and saccharine.
Also: Razor thin pancakes are served with a honey syrup and a constellation of fresh fruit. All of the usual suspects that play out in a western breakfast get an upgrade. Concerto trims the fat, nixes the oils, and ups the presentation by miles. The result is a remarkably European take on what otherwise would be a very British breakfast.

The irony is that the more traditional beans, eggs and sausage menu item comes out as crisp kidney beans in a saucer, garnished with bits of kale and a sweet sauce. Eggs are crowned with sprinkles of cheese and long links of Polish sausage. Nothing runs together here. No unsavory pool of food items all swimming together in one big lake of disaster.
Definitely worth the visit should you decide to eat guilt free and still feel a touch of luxury.
