When it comes to McDonald’s, you might not want to ask too many questions. You really don’t want to know where that McRib comes from, what Chicken McNuggets are made out of, or how that Shamrock Shake got to be so green. But some people can’t leave well enough alone, or simply don’t believe ignorance is bliss, and they have to go digging around for information they’d be better off not knowing.
The latest revelation that Mickey D’s fans wish they could take back is about Grimace, that purple blob of a character with an affinity for stealing milkshakes. For some reason, Brian Bates, the manager of a McDonald’s in Canada, decided to spill the beans on what the amorphous creature actually is – and the revelation is rather disappointing.
“He is an enormous taste bud, but a taste bud nonetheless,” Bates told the CBC in a recent interview.

Sometimes, it’s better to leave things ambiguous than to clarify and destroy the multitude of creative theories about a thing. That certainly seems to be the case with Grimace, who now seems a little less magical and a lot more ridiculous than he was before.
We don’t know what Bates was thinking in dropping this truth bomb, but we wish he’d kept it to himself. Next time you want to ruin our day, dude, just stuff a Big Mac in your big mouth instead.
