Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo Reveal New Pink-Tinted Tequila Brand on Instagram (But Are You Man Enough to Drink It?)

It’s been a minute since a celebrity announced the launch of a tequila brand. But of any famous person – make that people – to expand into the spirits industry, we never expected to see liquor made by Adam Levine and his wife, Behati Prinsloo.

But the Maroon 5 frontman and his model spouse have been busy doing more than making babies. Apparently, they’ve been working on Calirosa, a tequila made in Mexico and aged in California red wine barrels.

What makes Calirosa stand out on the already saturated celebrity spirits market? Its hue. The booze is a delicate, dainty shade of pink.

“Adam and I love Mexico and first tried a pink tequila when we were in there three or four years ago. We were blown away. I had never heard of tequila being aged in red wine barrels so I was thinking, ‘This is crazy! Do they dye it?’ ” Prinsloo told People.

No, they don’t dye it, but aging the tequila in red wine barrels does imbue the alcohol with fruity flavors and a blush color.

The couple, who married in Los Cabos, Mexico, in 2014, are co-founders in the company. They were involved in every step of the process, from the label design to the tequila taste to the distillery choice.

The tequila company is the first time the couple has collaborated professionally (outside of his band’s music videos).

“Adam and I have never done anything like this together. He was on The Voice for so long and I was working with Victoria’s Secret and then we had kids,” Prinsloo told People. “Right now, this is my third baby.”

Calirosa has two bottles currently on the market: a 30-day aged Rosa Blanco and an 18-month aged Añejo. Look for an Extra Añejo – which is still aging – coming soon.

We’re certainly intrigued by the concept of a pink tequila and wonder what it tastes like. We’re just not sure we’re man enough to drink it in public yet…
