iGrill2 Smart Thermometer Breaks Out of the Kitchen

The folks at iDevices developed its Bluetooth Smart Kitchen Thermometer for multiple indoor food prep uses.

That same technology now breaks out to the great outdoors with iGrill2. The smart thermometer works with any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to monitor food temperature.

Now, for some bbq entrées, that temp is not a major issue. If you like your items well done or if you crisping up something pre-cooked or cut thin, it’s an easy proposition to cook it through safely. But, if diners prefer rare meat  or if you’re cooking something more delicate like salmon  undercooked protein can be dangerous.

The iGrill2 monitors cooking temperatures to connected Bluetooth devices within 150 feet. Once the griller selects what’s on the fire, the related app offers the current temperature and cooking time — letting you know when it’s time to pull the meat, fish, etc., off the grill.

The iGrill2 retails for $99.99 and is due out in late May, although it’s related app is free through the iTunes store. A smaller version (iGrill mini) sells for $39.99.
