Netflix has confirmed that it will be streaming Breaking Bad in 4K starting from June.
The series, which attributed a great deal of its success to its owners Sony’s partnership with Netflix, a deal that saw every episode of the show released onto the streaming platform after they had aired on TV, will be remastered so that it can be viewed in 4K resolution and with 5.1 surround sound.
Netflix has already released House of Cards series 2 in 4K, and has stated that it will be filming all of its Netflix Originals series such as Orange is the New Black in this resolution from now on. 4K streaming will not require any additional costs on top of your existing Netflix membership.
Netflix 4K will require a TV that supports 4K in order to view it (obviously). Netflix has predicted that the ultra HD resolution will become mainstream within five years time which, considering that 4K is included in most newer models of HD TVs, is a likely estimate.
