Uniqlo opened it’s first store in Hiroshima, Japan in 1984 and although the first store didm’t hit NYC’s chic SOHO neighborhood until 2006. Since then Uniqlo has become one of the hottest places to shop in NYC.
Recently, the product at Uniqlo became even more sought after as their t-shirt line celebrates its 12th anniversary and who better to call on right now than Pharrell Williams, currently one of the biggest names in music.
In addition to being dubbed the most “Happy” artist of the century, he also has a style sense like none other. Talk about being the mater of wearing the perfect conversation piece. From red carpet appearances to in-store events, he and his stylist never seem to miss a beat so the project now with Uniqlo is the perfect venture.
The Men’s and Women’s tees include messages like “That Which Makes You Different Is What Makes You Special” and “The Same Is Lame”. Both of which embrace creativity and uniqueness.
Earlier this week Pharrell surprised New York guests during a launch event at the Uniqlo Fifth Avenue store by making an appearance to thank them for their support.
Also in attendance was the current Director of Uniqlo’s UT brand, NIGO who is also ironically Pharrell’s business partner and A Bathing Ape founder.
The UT capsule collection includes t-shirts and hats and a limited edition exclusively available online.
