During our Summer Grilling Guyd coverage this month, our recipes and other stories call for plenty of BBQ sauce and marinade for various meats. Of course, sauces and marinades abound at your local grocery store.
Still, if you’re aspiring to be a grilling master — or if you’re looking to assign your own signature tastes to your barbecue — preparing your own sauce is a hell of a lot more fun. It might even be sexy to the right lady guest sitting at your picnic table.
Here are quick recipes for your own BBQ sauce and steak marinade with easy to find ingredients. Both should be mixed in the suggested portions and kept in your fridge until you need them.
Barbecue Sauce (…with a little kick…) Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- Minced 1/2 onion diced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
- 4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 4 tbsp minced chipotle peppers
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Easy Marinade Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup green olives
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- 3 tbsp olive oil
Directions: Place steak in shallow pan. Pour marinade over meat. Cover tightly with foil. Refrigerate over night. Remove all olives and marinade.
