More and more major companies are putting their backing behind wearable technology. From Apple, to Google, to Sony, there’s plenty of wearable tech already being pushed onto store shelves, and plenty more waiting for us just around the corner.

Project Morpheus
Sony’s rival to the Facebook-owned Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, Project Morpheus will give PS4 owners a slice of VR action when it finally reaches store shelves.
It seems like we’re light years away from when Nintendo gave us an awful first impression of VR technology with its ill-fated Virtual Boy, as the new breed of VR headsets look to go beyond gimmickry and add an extra layer of immersion to video games. The Oculus Rift’s developer model has wowed the likes of Minecraft creator Notch, and we should anticipate that Sony will do everything to floor its competitor when consumers get their hands on its own headset.
While it has been confirmed that Project Morpheus won’t be launching in 2014, it’s likely that it will be a focal point of Sony’s E3 2014 presentation. We can’t wait to see more of it.

Google Glass
We’re still undecided as to whether or not the Google Glass is practical wearable tech, what with it essentially being $1,500 worth of hardware that you carry on your face, but there’s no doubt that it’s impressive.
While those who purchased the device in its 24-hour sale last month have been unkindly referred to as “Glassholes” due to the pretentious appearance of the smart glasses, it’s introducing a variety of new concepts into the growing world of wearable technology, making it impossible to ignore. It also doesn’t look to be the big financial bust that had been expected, with it selling out in its one-day sale.
