Indian Motorcycles Goes for Luxury with New Roadmaster

A reborn classic is about to kick the door in at Sturgis this year.

When Indian Motorcycles brings out the all-new 2015 Indian Roadmaster, they’ll be reintroducing the biker world to a classic originally produced from 1947-1953. She was a big touring bike then, and her new version is now — only with a little more technology and luxury features. It’ll make its public debut on August 2 at the 74th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

The new Roadmaster was built to look impressive while providing “all-day, two-passenger touring comfort.” According to Indian, its spec sheet includes:

  • Expansive, easy-access storage for extended rides in virtually any weather condition
  • Nearly 38 gallons of weatherproof storage
  • Standard dual hard-sided saddlebags and a roomy quick-release, carpet-lined rear trunk —both featuring remote locking for security and convenience
  • Enhanced driver leg room and adjustable passenger floorboards
  • Horizon Windscreen featuring power-adjust
  • Desert Tan Genuine Leather heated seats with individual controls and high/low settings
  • Heated grips featuring 10 temperature settings
  • Adjustable airflow lower fairings

The Roadmaster won’t come cheap at $26,999, but that price tag is in the ballpark of rival touring bikes from Harley-Davidson, Star and Honda. I’ll see if she’s worth all of that money when I have a chance to ride it myself in just a few days at Sturgis.
