Art is in the air, in the water, in the earth. Everywhere you go in Miami Beach, there are parties, events, and talks celebrating the power of visual work. Crave has put together a list of the top events during Art Basel in Miami Beach.

“Fear Less” Unveiling at Wynwood Walls

On Tuesday, November 29, at 11:00pm, Wynwood Walls will unveil 12 new murals in the latest incarnation of the world-renowned Museum of the Streets takes its shape. Since its inception in 2009, more than 50 artists from 16 countries have covered over 80,000 square feet of walls with their idiosyncratic, iconoclastic, and highly influential styles including Crave faves OSGEMEOS, Daze, Crash, Aiko, and Barry McGee, among others. Legendary photographer Martha Cooper will be on hand to document it all.

Cashmere Cat, Jillionaire & Special Guest Uncle Luke at Pérez Art Museum Miami

The Pérez Art Museum Miami presents a one-night-only event featuring electronic musician and producer Cashmere Cat, DJ and producer Jillionaire of Major Lazer, and Miami’s very own, the legend himself Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell. This party, which is by invitation only, has been getting all the buzz, bringing generations together under one rood to “Move Something.”

Salons & Debates at Art Basel

Over the course of four days, Art Basel in Miami Beach will host 24 talks, debates, and salons on site at the Miami Beach Convention Center, including:

Artist Julio Le Parc in conversation with Dr. Estrellita B. Brodsky, on the occasion the 88-year-old Argentine artist’s exhibition at the Pérez Art Museum Miami. A founding member of the artist collective Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel (GRAV, le Parc’s experimental work is central to the Op and Kinetic art movements. The talk will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 10:00am.

Crave fave artist Glenn Ligon and Yale University Professor Claudia Rankine will be in conversation moderated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of Serpentine Galleries, London, to discuss ideas of art, practice, and community. The conversation will be held on Friday, December 2 at 11:00am.

Films at Art Basel

The Film sector of Art Basel, held at SoundScape Park, presents a selection of works on a 7,000 square-foot projection wall of the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center, as well as inside the Miami Beach Convention Center. Organized in association with David Gryn, Director of Daata Editions and London’s Artprojx, the Film sector presents 46 films including:

A “Double Bill” program that pairs two film works that share similar themes or approaches to an intense musical score: Rita Ackermann (b. 1968) and Christian Marclay (b. 1955) on Wednesday, November 30 and Liliana Porter (b. 1941) and Alfredo Jaar (b. 1956) on Friday, December 2.

The late screening on Thursday, December 1 will feature works by sound artist and DJ Ain Bailey (b. 1963), with Sonia Boyce (b.1962), along with pieces by Anna Grenman (b. 1984), Rashid Johnson (b. 1977), Alex Prager (b. 1979) and Penny Siopis (b. 1953).

Breakfast in the Park

Now celebrating its 13th year, the new edition of Breakfast in the Park will be held at the Patricia & Phillip Frost art Museum FIU on Sunday, December 4, at 9:30am to commemorate the final day of Art Basel in Miami Beach. This year, American artist Judy Pfaff is the guest speaker. Guests will enjoy a complementary outdoor breakfast, an informal lecture, and a guided tour of the Sculpture Park. Complimentary round-trip bus service will be provided to Art Basel delegates. The bus departs at 8:30a.m. from the Convention Center.


Miss Rosen is a New York-based writer, curator, and brand strategist. There is nothing she adores so much as photography and books. A small part of her wishes she had a proper library, like in the game of Clue. Then she could blaze and write soliloquies to her in and out of print loves.
