Gutsy Glassware For Spirited Drinkers

The Norlan Whiskey Glass.

Cocktail lovers and whiskey drinkers delight! Two very different design brands have re-imagined the way a sophisticated (or even not so sophisticated) man drinks his top shelf spirits.

Norlan has teamed up with forward-thinking designer Sruli Recht to render a glass that gives longer and brighter life to your whiskey drinking experience. Just how do they do it? Innovations of science meet the boldest ideas of design, congealing together like a fine (you guessed it) whiskey on the palette. The revolutionary young brand has rendered a double-walled glass that optimally aerates the spirit, boosting its quality and texture.

The Norlan Whiskey Glass.

Norlan for its part has launched an ambitious kickstarter campaign to get their newest innovation to as many bars and tables as possible. And it looks like it’ll happen – they’ve already surpassed their goal of 75k, rasing over $500,000! Recht, for his part, is no stranger to thinking outside of the box. He previously made waves (pun intended) for creating a line of menswear that used layers of wood in the composition of the clothing. Now how’s that for bold?

The Quido Glass.

Is whiskey not the only booze you have a taste for? Enter Martin Jakobsen. The Czech designer and founder of Jakobsen Design has rendered a cocktail drinking glass called Quido that is literally turning the drinking experience on its head. Jakobsen has fashioned a spherical glass with a silicone stopper in order to keep the cocktail where it should be – in the glass and not on the floor. Two glass straws also puncture the glass globe shape, allowing for slurping and sipping of a cocktail rather than knocking them back.

Jakobsen designs what he calls minimalist inspired goods and work, but this glass is anything but minimalist. It’s ambitiously brave and bold, complex and functional. And for those of us who get clumsier the more we imbibe, it equally solves the problem of avoiding those nasty spills. Headline should read: cocktail glassware that doesn’t spill.

Cheers!
