Swiss watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer is discretely closing in on 100 years in the business with 90 years of fine watchmaking safely tucked away in its archive. That hasn’t meant the brand has eased its foot off the gas pedal. With the Patravi Scubatec, Bucherer has unveiled a remarkable intersection between sport and luxury.
The Patravi Scubatec for all intents and purposes looks like the kind of watch a man straps on his wrist when going to the Met Gala. With its stainless steel case and ceramic bezel, it plays the spoiler role in coming dressed the part of the suave gentleman. But lift the lid and you quickly discover this is as functionally robust a specimen as they come.

Water resistant up to 500m, the Patravi isn’t called Scubatec for no good reason. You’re encouraged to plumb the depths of the sea with this on your wrist. During decompression from the depths, there is a stainless steel automatic helium valve that releases gases in order to compensate.

It also boasts an automatic movement caliber CFB 1950. And it weighs in with a 26.2 mm diameter. And then when we get down to pure aesthetics, Bucherer endows the timepiece with various details fit for a gallery. The back features a design of 3D sea rays.

Bucherer deems the watch one built for adventurers and engineered for exploring. But it is not limited to ticking off items on your bucket list. It still remains faithful to the high standard of design and aesthetic put forward by the Bucherer brand. In fact, your dial comes in white, black or blue. And your case is available in gold or steel.
That makes for some mean competition to the long line of sports brands. But not to be relegated to merely a conversation about how deep this baby can go, Bucherer also throws its hat in the ring for luxury as well. The Patravi Scuba Tec retails for $6400 with the rubber strap and $6800 for the bracelet version.
