If you don’t think The Big Lebowski is one of the greatest films of the last 20 years, then odds are you’re a nihilist.
The Coen brothers classic starring Jeff Bridges as Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski and John Goodman as Vietnam War vet Walter Sobchak is just as funny today as it was when it debuted on the big screen 19 years ago. Sadly, it took those same 19 years to reward Goodman’s hysterical effort with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Well, Goodman’s wait finally came to an end over the weekend, and his old pal Jeff Bridges decided to show up and help honor him. Only he didn’t honor Goodman as Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges. No sir. As Bridges walked up to the podium, he handed Goodman a bag of what at first appeared to be a bag of Goodman’s dirty underwear, but it turned out that it was holding The Dude’s famous cardigan instead, and it was at that moment that everyone in attendance was rewarded for showing up to the ceremony.
Watch as Bridges transformed into The Dude and honored the great Walter Sobchak on his big day:
John Goodman Finally Got His Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame And Let’s Just Say ‘The Dude’ Abided
Man, it’s a shame I wasn’t able to make it out to that. It’s also a shame that it took this long to get Goodman a star on Hollywood Blvd. I mean, that dude should have been given one years ago just for being able to put up with Roseanne Barr’s shit for almost 10 years.
