Nature is absolutely brutal.
Animals, like people, will do anything to keep their baby safe, and that’s exactly what a group of hippos did when they discovered that a crocodile had made its way into their territory. The video below was filmed in the Serengeti and shows a group of 30 hippos bandying together in order to protect the baby hippos. The hippos do all in their power to take down the croc, even holding it underwater.
Harish Kumar was able to capture the amazing footage. Take a look at the video below.
According to the 71-year-old, the baby hippos were fine, and believe it or not so was the croc who was able to swim away unharmed. Here’s how Kumar describes the incident.
“Our guide took us out on a drive to the place called Hippo Pool, in the Serengeti. We were all just strolling around when suddenly my wife called me to tell me that something was going on there in the pool, with the huge pod of hippos.
I excitedly ran to get there and immediately started filming – there wasn’t even time to get the tripod set up. The crocodile somehow managed to maneuver himself into the middle of a pod of angry hippos. These guys wanted him out of their territory at once.
The croc was completely outnumbered and found himself being thrown around and bitten by the hippos. Luckily he managed to get away unharmed. This was a right time right place encounter.”
You live to fight another day, croc.
