TikToker’s ‘Friendsgiving’ Epically Failed, But Now She Has Millions of Fake Pals on Social Media

It’s an extrovert’s worst nightmare: you plan an epic dinner party, only to have nobody show up. That was the fate of one TikToker named Maryann, who was devastated when her Friendsgiving festivities never got off the ground.

Her boyfriend, Christian Zamora, documented the holiday fail for TikTok, and the video has racked up over 15 million views. In the clip, he explains how his girlfriend planned for her Friendsgiving fete for two whole weeks. She decorated her basement and cooked a big spread of tasty food for the special occasion – but no one showed up.

“My girlfriend was so excited for her first Friendsgiving but no one showed up,” he captioned the vid, which shows Maryann sitting at an empty table, alone. “She decorated the whole basement and cooked so much food. I keep trying to cheer her up but nothing is working. I’m so sad for her.”

In a subsequent video, he explains: “They were planning everything, everything was all set — the date, the time, and everything. They were all gonna come. But when the day came and no one was answering the group chat. No one was texting or calling, but in her mind, she thought everyone was running late. When it hit the three-hour mark, she was like, ‘Yeah no one’s gonna come.’”

Zamora, a total gentleman, remedied the situation by inviting his own pals to fill the empty seats.

“They were more than gracious enough to come. They all came and brought stuff. It’s like she had her own Friendsgiving, there was a happy ending to it,” he explained.

“It was a great night, his friends and his brother showed up. We had a great time,” Maryann said. “They brought drinks and stuff, it was a fun night. I was disappointed at the time but it turned out to be a really good night.”

What’s more, fellow TikTokers left thousands of supportive comments; so while Maryann may no longer be buds with the no-shows, she now has a slew of faux online friends to commiserate with. And in this digital age, that just might be the new definition of “Friendsgiving.”
