Think pink. That seems to have been the mindset Jared Leto was in when he chose his outfit for the Los Angeles premiere of House of Gucci. The Oscar-winning actor rocked a pink satin tuxedo from the label’s spring 2022 collection and accessorized it with bedazzled, black lace gloves and white boots.
It was quite the glamorous transformation for the 49-year-old star, who played Gucci design chief Paolo Gucci in the film. To take on the role, Leto had to don heavy prosthetics, a fat suit, and a receding hairline. He also incorporated Gucci’s accent and mannerisms into his interpretation of the iconic Italian fashionista.
“You make a commitment to something like that, you dive in deep, and it’s not like you take a shower and you wash it all away,” Leto told The Hollywood Reporter. “There are remnants. There’s a lot of work inside and out. Even speaking with a different accent for a long time, you use different muscles. Accents are just a different way of making shapes in your mouth. Using your body in a different way, so if you train yourself to speak a different way, it can take a minute to let go of things but I think that’s okay.”
The biographical crime drama directed by Ridley Scott and based on the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden also stars Lady Gaga and Adam Driver – though Leto topped them all on this particular red carpet. Dare we say we’re pink with envy?
