Have you ever thought about the concept of the fast-food (or fast-casual) drive-thru? Like really thought about it. If you do, you likely realize that while burgers, donuts, milkshakes, French fries, iced coffees, and various taco-adjacent foods are all well and good, there’s really an untapped treasure trove of other food items we rarely (if ever) see at a drive-thru window. Specifically, we’re talking about one of the greatest foods of all time: pizza. Why aren’t there pizza drive-thrus from coast to coast?

Well, the simple explanation is that pizza takes a bit longer to make than a Gordita or a Big Mac. It does appear that someone figured it out though. It’s called Fly Pie Pizza and it’s only available at one location in Henderson, Nevada.

The whole process, while intriguing is slightly different from our usual drive-thru experience. It seems like it’s more like a car wash where, instead of ending with a shiny, clean car, you have a cheesy, delicious pizza instead.

You simply drive up, order your pizza, calzone, and whatever else you want to stuff your face with. Then you drive through a tunnel where you view some video screens featuring cartoons and other entertainment while you wait for your food to be prepared. Your pizza is prepared using Italian Caputo flour and actual New York water brought in from New York City. There’s no waiting thirty minutes for this ‘za though. It will be ready in just 150 seconds.

While we don’t know if the gimmick will wear off. We definitely know that if a Fly Pie opens in our town, we’re definitely loading up the car with our friends and checking it out. What could be better than fast food pizza?
