To paraphrase a famous movie character: Dead or alive, you’re building a statue to me.
The Kickstarter campaign, inspired by a cult film and an off-the-cuff comment by Detroit’s mayor, was successful — and the Motor City will soon have a statue of RoboCop to brag about.
Crave’s CinemaBlend site chronicled the fundraising effort that raised more than $67,000 to pay an artist to create the statue. The statue should be finished by Summer 2014 — just a few months after rhe February 7, 2014 release of the RoboCop remake.
