What’s that flying through the air? A bird? A plane? No, it’s a new Superman stamp, which will make its first appearance at Fan Expo Canada this weekend.
The series of five stamps based on the DC Comic superhero, which will come out next month on September 10th, falls in line with Superman’s 75th birthday. It will be shown on Friday at Fan Expo.
“The thing about Superman is that he is like the ultimate hyphenated citizen. He is a Canadian-American-Kryptonian superhero,” said Keisha McIntosh-Siung, spokesperson for Canada Post (as reported by The Star). “He’s really a timeless hero… He continues to inspire millions of people, so I think a lot of people are going to be interested in it. We anticipate that it’s going to be going pretty quickly.”
Superman was co-created by Joseph Shuster, a Torontonian who used his city as inspiration for Metropolis along with the Daily Planet, which was modeled after the Toronto Daily Star.
Only a limited edition of the new Superman stamps will be printed.
