Things got a little rowdy towards the end of the Oakland-Detroit ALDS game Monday.
While closing out the ninth for the Athletics, Aussie closer Grant Balfour clearly gave Tigers catcher Victor Martinez a little “hello,” after Martinez stared down the pitcher after fouling off one of his fast balls. Martinez gave a little “hello” back — and the MLB Network microphones picked up the entire exchange crystal clear.
Boys will be boys.
It should be noted that although the benches cleared, no punches were thrown. Balfour is known around baseball as a guy who talks to himself on the mound. The Tigers are just pissed they’re losing to a team that can’t even keep feces from floating around their dugout.
I, however, am going to laugh hysterically when the A’s — who have a $68 million payroll — beat the Tigers — who have a $149 million payroll.
See ya in Boston, Billy!
