The only reason I own a gaming system is to entrench myself into a realistic simulation of a sports season. Look upon my video game collection and anything post SNES is piled with Maddens, NBA Lives, MLB The Shows, NCAA, etc. I’m a sports gaming snob. However, with the ridiculous collection of the games I’ve accumulated over the years, none have had the feature MLB 14 The Show will behold.
It was announced this week that MLB 14 The Show will allow users to import a career from an older version of the series — the first time any sports game has allowed the option.
Essentially this means that you will no longer have to start from scratch — after spending countless hours building a career with a player — when you buy the newest game for the upcoming season. If you start a career in the 2014 version, you’ll be able to carry it on into the 2015 game. After all, just because there are a few new players on new teams each year shouldn’t mean that your career is deleted — it wouldn’t be deleted in real life would it?
You can read more about it at Kotaku, who say, “people were ready to crown it the Sports GOTY sight unseen, all because of “career importation,” a long begged-for concept that has always seemed to have some roadblock in its way.”
And by the looks of the trailer, the graphics seem completely surreal. We’ve come a long way since RBI Baseball. I’m probably buying a PS4 just for this game alone.
