The Rolling Stones have officially called off their Australian tour after the death of Mick Jagger’s girlfriend L’Wren Scott this week.
Set to kick off in Perth on Wednesday, the band have postponed their hugely popular Aussie tour but are aiming towards a return in the near future.
The Stones will now fly home after landing in Perth earlier this week, saying they are “deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L’Wren Scott” in a statement released on the official Rolling Stone’s website.
Mick Jagger also shared his personal anguish via social media.

The six-stop Australian stadium tour was to draw sell-out crowds across the country and was expected to launch the newly refurbished 70,000 seat Adelaide Oval.
While fans were initially hoping for at least the late March dates to still go ahead, it now looks as if The Rolling Stones will return some time after the current AFL season winds up in late September.
Promoter Tony Cochrane told The Advertiser that the band will return once the AFL season concludes in order to fit in an appearance at Adelaide’s new premier sporting ground.
“The band absolutely want to include Adelaide Oval in the new schedule,” Cochrane said.
“We’re reworking what we can do after football season. It certainly won’t be during football season and as you’re aware it’s an outdoor show so we can’t play an outdoor show in the winter.”
“We sold over 50,000 tickets so we don’t have a choice. The Stones genuinely wanted to be the first act at Adelaide Oval and we’re still aiming for that. Both Mick and Charlie are huge cricket followers and all of that really counted for something when we did the deal back in August. None of that has changed.”
Cochrane also revealed that the South Australian government helped initially bring The Rolling Stones to Adelaide as the Oval’s opening act, contributing a cool $450,000 to get the deal done.
The Rolling Stones were last in Australia in 2006, visiting just Sydney and Melbourne.
