A fair warning right away — if videos of gnarly injuries make you queasy, you might want to run in the other direction of this video of Don Baylor from Opening Day.
The assistant coach with the Angels was simply catching a ceremonial first pitch with Angel great Vladimir Guerrero when the worst happened — as the The Washington Post put it, one of the more bizarre injuries seen in baseball.
According to reports, the former AL turned his right ankle badly, breaking his right femur when he lunged to backhand Guerrero's low throw to the plate.
Before you watch the video, I'll post a popular Buster Olney Tweet that's been circulating….and warn you again this video is gross.
For those who don't recall Don Baylor's toughness: He was hit by pitches 267 times, and famously did not react when ball bounced off him.

Baylor was scheduled for surgery Tuesday.
