Craigslist PS4 Sale Goes Horribly Wrong, Man Shot Dead

Sometimes we take to websites like Craigslist to sell things we don’t want or need any more. It’s a platform that’s as good as any other, really, and it usually facilitates decent business transactions between respectable individuals. It’s a constantly-updated online classifieds with whatever (or in some cases whoever) you may be looking for, in a simple and easily-navigable format. All things considered…it gets the job done.

Unfortunately, there are those of us out there who might use the anonymous nature of online classifieds to prey upon people who are wholly unsuspecting. It’s a sad reality that life sometime thrusts upon us when we least expect it, and disastrous results typically follow.

In Roswell, Georgia a man was shot by a teenager that accompanied another male who claimed to be wanting to purchase his PlayStation 4. His name was Daniel Zeitz, and he was a gamer heavily involved in the eSports scene. He died of that gunshot wound to the chest after a scuffle occurred when the man who attempted to “buy” his PS4 tried to simply grab the video game console and run away with it.

This was an unfortunate turn of events, and I’m quite sure his family and friends were all shocked and scarred by this very untimely and needless death. A word of advice:

Always make sure you have (at least) one other individual with you when you conduct business with someone you recently met online, and carry out the transaction in a highly public place. If things go south, there’s at least a greater chance of help or of witnesses to anything that might occur.

Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to the family of Daniel Zeitz. One of his eSports teammates and long-time friends speaks out in a video that we have for you below:

A thank you goes to Crave’s Game Revolution for shedding light on this tragedy. Hopefully increased awareness of stories like this can help prevent more unwarranted violence in the future.

The individual responsible for trying to take the console away from Daniel admitted guilt while being treated for wounds at a nearby hospital.
