Whether you’re a few months into your relationship or you’ve been together forever, Valentine’s Day can add some undue pressure to any couple. With just a couple days to go, you may be tempted to reach for the nearest box of chocolates or the softest teddy bear you can find. Forget the clichés, though, guys, and step up to the plate this year. Even if you both swear you hate the Hallmark Holiday, the coldest of stone hearts still have to admit that with Valentine’s Day falling on a long weekend, it’s tough to turn a completely blind eye. Why not try out one of these super easy ideas and really impress your girlfriend?
Valentine's Day Date Ideas 2
Cooking Class
Studies show that couples who cook together … well, eat together. But seriously, even if neither of you is the next Top Chef, a cooking class is a unique way to get out of the house and spend some time together. Team activities like this are actually super romantic and most classes come with a cocktail or two! Going above and beyond would be arranging a private lesson with a chef she loves, but don’t worry if you can’t swing that this year.
Get Lucky Likelihood: 2. I’m not saying it’s impossible, and I’m sure not one to judge a quickie in the bathroom, but maybe focus on the food and wait till you get home to get it on.
Stargazing
What’s more romantic than exploring the universe with your sweetheart? Head to the planetarium for a show (most are free!) or just check out the giant telescopes. If you don’t have a local observatory, head out somewhere remote and gaze at the galaxy on a blanket. Going all out? Take a picnic, too, and don’t forget the wine!
Get Lucky Likelihood: 6. This really depends on where you are. A public planetarium show? Hands off, guys. On a blanket in a field? Make a move!
Busy with the Birds and the Bees
Get active outside! On the West Coast, maybe that means going on a hike, a walk on the beach, or even snowshoeing in the snowy mountains. Back East (or anywhere else in the US, really), don’t let those blankets of snow deter you! Make snow angels in the yard or build his-and-hers snowpeople. Don’t be afraid to get a little raunchy – ‘tis the season! Once you’ve had enough of the outdoors, head inside for some spiked hot chocolate (or summery sangria for the lucky Californians) and see where the evening takes you.
Get Lucky Likelihood: 8. I’m not so sure about outdoor romps in the snow, but getting a little sweaty outside is the perfect primer for getting really sweaty inside.
Date Night In
It’s too late to order a pre-selected wine trio like this one from Sip! Wines Online , but why not make your own meal and wine combo? Get a couple bottles of your favorite wine – and maybe a bottle of bubbly – and then hit up the internet for some easy recipes . Take it a step further by focusing on foods that are aphrodisiacs and suddenly you have an excuse to break out the whipped cream!
Get Lucky Likelihood: 10! At home, drinking wine …we all know where this goes.
Romantic Staycation
Check out some last-minute travel deals and check into a local hotel for the night! Staying close to home means you’ll probably have some extra cash to splurge on a room with a Jacuzzi and maybe even bring along supplies for some delicious boozey cocktails in the room. Outdo yourself by having a sweet bouquet of flowers already in the room. (Hey, I never said cliché was all bad!)
Get Lucky Likelihood: Sure thing! Getting it on is literally the entire point of this plan. Make it happen, gents.
