Blur Announce New Album ‘The Magic Whip’: Listen to New Song ‘Go Out’

Blur have announced that they will be releasing a new album, titled The Magic Whip, their first since 2003.

This will mark the first time all members of the band have worked together on an LP since 1999’s 13, as guitarist Graham Coxon left the band following a falling out with frontman Damon Albarn prior to the release of 03’s Think Tank.

The band announced the news in a London press conference hosted by DJ Zane Lowe, along with confirming that they would be headlining the British Summertime Festival in Hyde Park this year.

The album’s cover, which can be seen above, suggests a Tokyo influence following the band’s performances in the country in early 2014. During their live performance in Japan, Albarn informed the crowd that they had been in the studio working on new material, though conflicting reports suggested that Blur had once again been put on hold by Albarn as he continued with his various solo projects.

Blur used the press conference to also debut brand new track ‘Go Out’, which you can watch below:

As those who are familiar with Blur would expect, it sounds quite unlike anything the band have put out thus far in their illustrious discography.

The Magic Whip will be released April 27th, with the band set to headline British Summertime Festival on June 20th. Now excuse me while I go pour myself a cold shower in order to prevent myself from hyperventilating with excitement.
