Game of Thrones Season 6 Adds Max Von Sydow & Ian McShane

Production has already begun on the sixth season of Game of Thrones, but the series isn’t done adding more names to the cast!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that both Max von Sydow (pictured above) and Ian McShane are the latest cast members to join Game of Thrones Season 6. Von Sydow will take over the role of The Three-Eyed Raven, the enigmatic mentor of Bran Stark who was briefly played by in the fourth season by Struan Rodger. McShane’s role is currently being kept under wraps.

Both von Sydow and McShane are said to have pivotal roles in the new season, but neither man is expected to have much screentime.

Von Sydow has been appearing in films and television series since 1949, with iconic roles in The Seventh Seal, Through a Glass Darkly, The Exorcist, Hannah and Her Sisters, Never Say Never Again, Minority Report, and the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

McShane is best known for playing Al Swearengen for three seasons on HBO’s Deadwood. McShane also starred in Kings, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, John Wick, Hercules, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Jack the Giant Slayer.

Game of Thrones Season 6 is currently filming, with a sixth season premiere likely to occur in April 2016.
