Will Paul Shaffer and David Letterman work together again? Shaffer has hinted at the possible idea with The Canadian Press.
In a recent interview, Shaffer said that both he and Letterman, who have retired, talk often and discuss the idea of working together on another comedy project. “He absolutely misses it, for so many reasons. But he likes to perform,” Shaffer told The CP about Letterman’s departure from television on May 20th of this year. “People say to me, ‘Maybe he’ll produce something.’ What he likes to do is be in front of an audience. I have a feeling he’s going to figure a way, not necessarily on TV, but just as long as I think he can get in front of an audience, we may see him doing that.”
Shaffer, who was born in what is now Thunder Bay, Ontario, also retired himself this year. However he still made time to make a cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live‘s 40th anniversary special in February and then in May, he was honoured with a double decker sightseeing bus in New York City for his work on The Late Show.
