There are currently several rumors flying around about another relaunch at DC Comics, but one thing is clear: Scott Snyder is done with Batman…for now.
Snyder and artist Greg Capullo teamed up in 2011 for the new Batman ongoing series, which launched out of The New 52 initiative. Snyder had previously written Batman in Detective Comics, and he’s been associated with DC’s flagship superhero character for several years.
Earlier today, Snyder confirmed his departure from Batman on twitter. Batman # 51 will be his final issue when it comes out in April.
Truth: I’ve been delaying writing the last pages of Batman #51 – my final issue on the series & last comic w @GregCapullo for 6 months.

As part of their Batman run, Snyder and Capullo briefly retired Bruce Wayne from the Batman role and installed former Commissioner, James Gordon as the new “official” Batman of the Gotham PD. That storyline will wrap up next month in Batman # 50.
“[Batman #50 will be] the most explosive, jam-packed sort of blockbuster crazed issue we’ve ever done, said Snyder in an interview with ComicVine.”Batman #51 is really just a letter to the fans from us and a letter to Batman. It’s the lightest I’ve ever written. Not lightest as in happy, but light as in not as many panels per page. It’s really, really open. It’s a chance for Greg to draw the close before we take our break.”
Snyder has been rumored to be returning to Detective Comics following the potential DC relaunch, but he has not publicly confirmed that. However, Snyder and Capullo have both said that they will reunite for a DC project after Capullo’s next project with writer Mark Millar is complete.
