During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Reynolds was asked if he and Blake Lively have considered leaving the U.S. and moving to Canada after Donald Trump was elected as the 47th President. Reynolds replied, “No. It hasn’t even crossed our minds.” He added, “I love New York, and I love where I live.” The actor also got candid about his reaction to Trump getting elected for a second term.

Reynolds said there is a “huge fracture” in many countries, not just the U.S. The Marvel star explained, “There’s a real growing chasm between left and right.” Later, Reynolds spoke about being a proud Canadian. He said he sees his home country as one of his “parents.” The dad of four added, “It taught me some core values that have come in handy weekly, if not daily, since I left home when I was 18 or 19 years old.”

In addition to that, Reynolds expressed his concerns about Trump’s presidency affecting the arts field. The actor shared, “I worry about any art form where a majority of the demographic of folks involved with that art form didn’t necessarily vote for the current administration, and that the administration might view them as people to sanction.” Moreover, Reynolds explained how the industry is “frightened.” He said, “The thought of the entire business — film, television, any of it — experiencing any form of censorship is frightening, and should be frightening.”
