Here’s Why Ellen DeGeneres Has Reportedly Moved to the UK

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi’s move to the United Kingdom has sparked speculation regarding what caused the sudden change. Sources close to the media personality exclusively told TheWrap and TMZ of DeGeneres and de Rossi’s plans to never return to the United States. She allegedly told friends that Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the recent presidential elections was the primary reason behind the move to the U.K. Furthermore, the couple has already pocket-listed or will soon list their Montecito estate on the market and have bought a new home in England.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have reportedly settled in a South West England home

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have already moved into a home in rural England. Both reports stated that the source close to DeGeneres confirmed that the two have settled in the Cotswolds, which is located in rural south-central England. The region is roughly two hours from London, and they bought the place just before the 2024 presidential elections. Donald Trump‘s victory over Kamala Harris caused them to become “very disillusioned” and prompted them “to get the hell out” of the country.

The outlet further stated the former TV show host was one of the high-profile donors for the Harris-Walz campaign. She supposedly signed a $3,300 check for the Democratic party candidate and officially endorsed the political leader on Instagram. In one such post, DeGeneres urged others to “vote like our lives depend on it.”

Following their move to the U.K., Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have also pocket-listed their Montecito property, stated the sources. DeGeneres bought the spread-out California estate in 2019, which is approximately 90 minutes from North Los Angeles.

As for DeGeneres’ present life, she revealed how she has been spending her time post-cancellation of “The Ellen Show” amid toxic work environment allegations. The comedian opened up in the Netflix-produced standup show that she has taken up gardening and “got chickens.” She then addressed the allegations, “Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business … Yeah, the ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline.”
