As a wise Imp once said: everything’s easier with some wine in your belly.
And in news that would make the real Tyrion Lannister howl with the joy of ten resurrected Stark direwolves, some winemakers from West of Westeros have decided to honor his words by creating a bonafide Game Of Thrones-themed wine festival.
Game Of Rhones will return in 2016 to visit all Seven Kingdoms (i.e. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Wellington and Auckland).
Inspired in equal parts by the grapes of France’s Rhone Valley and the works of fiction’s most notorious serial killer (George R. R. Martin), the epic wine tasting event will feature more than 40 different winemakers from across the narrow sea, including Shaw + Smith, Yarra Yering, Tarrawarra Estate, Olivers Taranga and Paxton Biodynamic Wine (although exact producers vary city to city).
As Concrete Playground reports, in between goblets of Dornish Red, subjects will be able to chat with sommeliers at the Rhone Bar, vote for their favourite vintages as part of the People’s Choice Awards and take part in a blind tasting ‘torture chamber’ (which is apparently a lot less ‘Ramsay Bolton’ than the name would suggest).
Needless to say, dressing up as your favorite GoT character is also highly encouraged.
Just try not to accidentally utter the phrase “Hold the door” while you’re there, unless you want to water down the wine with the tears of hundred of heartbroken Thronies.
