Darth Vader will officially make an appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with James Earl Jones once again voicing the Dark Lord of the Galaxy.
Vader was confirmed to appear in the upcoming spin-off during the Rogue One panel at Star Wars Celebration 2016 in London, with Gareth Edwards discussing his time working with actor James Earl Jones. Speaking during the panel, Edwards said that he had “a nerdgasm” when he heard James Earl Jones exclaim the word “power” during his voice recording sessions.
Vader’s role in Rogue One has not been officially confirmed, though considering the film’s plot is based upon the Rebels stealing the plans for the Death Star, we imagine he’ll play a pretty pivotal part in the spin-off. He did appear in the film’s new trailer, albeit briefly, with his iconic heavy breathing concluding a clip played to attendees of the panel.
