Comic-Con 2016 | Mike Colter & Theo Rossi on ‘Luke Cage’

This fall, Marvel’s Netflix universe expands with the new Luke Cage series, which brings one of Marvel’s first African-American superheroes for his first solo adventure in live-action! You may have seen Mike Colter originate the role in Jessica Jones last fall, but you only think you know Luke Cage! Now it’s time to learn more about the man behind Heroes for Hire!

At Comic-Con, CraveOnline caught up with Colter and his co-star, Theo Rossi for an interview about the unique relationship between Cage and his ex-friend, “Shades” Alvarez. Colter and Rossi also offered up some insight into the respective storylines for each of their characters this season.

Want to know more about Luke Cage? He’s the man with unbreakable skin and super strength who is still trying to figure out how he’s going to handle his powers and if he even wants to be a superhero. He’s got a complicated relationship with Jessica Jones in the MCU because Jessica killed Luke’s wife while she was under Kilgrave’s control. Considering that Jessica struck up a relationship with Luke, that made things really awkward.

For his solo series, Luke is going up against Shades, who is described as “a relentless, menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart criminal, with ties to Cage’s past.” Shades actually exists in Marvel’s comic book universe, but this is a more modern take on the character.

All 13 episodes of Luke Cage season 1 will premiere on September 30, only on Netflix. We’ll be posting more interviews from the cast of Luke Cage soon!
