Craig Robinson & Adam Scott Get ‘Ghosted’ At Fox

What if The X-Files was mashed up with Ghostbusters? The result may be something very similar to Ghosted, a new comedy project on Fox that has just landed a pilot order.

Deadline is reporting that Fox has won a bidding war for the right to make Ghosted, a single-camera comedy that has Craig Robinson and Adam Scott set to star and executive produce the potential series with Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment). From the early description of the show, Robinson’s Leroy Wright will be the Scully (“a cynical, hilarious skeptic”) of the show, while Scott’s Max Allison is the Mulder (“a genius ‘true believer’ in the paranormal”).

While the tone of the show is expected to lean heavily on the comedic side, it’s premise hints at a slightly serious undercurrent. Leroy and Max are both hired by the Underground Investigative Service to investigate unexplained paranormal activity in Los Angeles, which will lead them to “a larger mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race.” That sounds very derivative, but it could be fun.

Neither Robinson nor Scott are strangers to television. Robinson is best known for his role on NBC’s The Office, and his own short-lived series, Mr. Robinson. He currently has recurring roles on Mr. Robot and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Robinson has also starred in Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, This Is the End, and Hot Tub Time Machine.

Scott co-starred in Hot Tub Time Machine 2 with Robinson, and he has also been featured in Step Brothers, Our Idiot Brother, and My Blind Brother. On television, he’s best known for his stint on Parks and Recreation, and for the cult comedy series, Party Down. Scott is also slated to appear in the upcoming HBO event series, Big Little Lies.
