OneRepublic has been announced as this year’s Grey Cup Halftime Show headliners. However, some football fans are questioning the CFL’s decision to go with an American band rather than a Canadian one.
It’s the third consecutive year that the league has gone with a performer from south of the border.
“OneRepublic is one of the biggest bands in the world — they have played for millions of fans internationally and we are thrilled to have them at this year’s Grey Cup in Toronto,” said Christina Litz, the CFL’s senior vice-president of marketing and content, to The Hamilton Spectator.
OneRepublic has released a total of three albums, with their fourth, Oh My My, coming out in October.
The Grey Cup takes place on November 27th at Toronto’s BMO Field.
