The Kills have been slaying audiences for the better part of the year in honor of their latest album Ash & Ice. The hard rock duo of Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince put down their axes (guitars) to drum up an exclusive playlist for their upcoming appearance at POP Montreal (Sept. 21-25).

The kick-ass mixtape captures the indie and international feel of POP Montreal, an annual not-for-profit curated cultural event that champions independence in the arts. There’s everything here from the obvious (Bad Brains) to the WTF (South Park Mexican) to the “oh hell yeah” (J. Dilla). They even throw out a little Canadian love to hometown girl Nelly Furtado. Well done.
Now, in its 15th year, POP Montreal is our neighbors to the north’s version of South by Southwest. The five day event will feature over 500 bands as well as films, art, fashion, crafts and special events. Attendees can catch a wide range of artists, including The Kills, Angel Olsen, John Cale and Hayden. Fore more information on POP Montreal go here.
