AMC’s Preacher is an inherently funny show, which isn’t afraid to get pretty dark at times. It’s based on the classic comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, which was no stranger to laughs. And while the TV incarnation has toned down some of the comic’s wilder elements, it must be hard to keep a straight face while filming some of these scenes.
ComicBook.com has debuted an excerpt from the Preacher season 1 gag reel, which will be included on the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release. And while series star Dominic Cooper doesn’t appear to have many flubs in these clips, his co-stars Ruth Negga and Joseph Gilgun aren’t quite as fortunate. Negga just can’t stop herself from laughing during the car fight that introduced her character, Tulip. Meanwhile, the line between Gilgun and his character, Cassidy starts to blur as he practically strips on camera while his director asks him to keep his clothes on. As Gilgun says in the video, even he doesn’t understand himself!

It’s too bad there are no clips of Ian Colletti’s Eugene in these bloopers, since his “Arseface” makeup has to have been prone to gaffes on set. But this may just be an excerpt from the set.
Preacher will have a second season in 2017, which will explore Jesse Custer (Cooper) and his literal quest to find God and either help him or “kick his ass” alongside Tulip and Jesse. Viewers of the first season know that Jesse also has a goal regarding Eugene, who will almost definitely be back for season 2 as well.
In the meantime, Preacher season 1 is out this week on DVD and Blu-ray, so you can catch up with the show at your leisure.
