One of the surprise hits from last year was AfterShock Comics’ Animosity, by writer Marguerite Bennett and artist Rafael De Latorre. The series imagined a world in which animals of every species were suddenly gifted with human-level intelligence and the ability to speak. This event was called “the Wake,” and it led to the violent animal uprising across the globe. Who could have possibly known that eating and mistreating them would come to this?
Later this month, Bennett is teaming up with artist Juan Doe on a one-shot story, Animosty: The Rise # 1. This time, readers will see the Wake play out in San Francisco, as Alex North, the veterinarian who was briefly glimpsed in Animosity # 1 makes his return. In our extended preview for Animosty: The Rise # 1, Alex finds that he may have some allies among the newly awakened animals, but he also has plenty of new enemies as well.
