As part of its ongoing quest for total streaming domination, Netflix continues to produce a wide variety of shows to reach many different audiences. And in its upcoming documentary series, Abstract: The Art of Design, Netflix is using the medium of television to make viewers re-contextualize the visuals we see in our everyday lives.
Through eight episodes, Abstract will explore several different design disciplines while profiling some of the top names in their respective industries. Via Kottke, the line up includes “photographer Platon, graphic designer Paula Scher, stage designer Es Devlin, illustrator Christoph Niemann, architect Bjarke Ingels, shoe designer Tinker Hatfield, interior designer Ilse Crawford, and automotive designer Ralph Gilles.”
Netflix has also released a new trailer for Abstract, which offers a better taste of how it will “step inside the minds of the most innovative designers in a variety of disciplines and learn how design impacts every aspect of life.”
