Any white rapper, especially one from Detroit, is going to be compared to Eminem. While that is unfair, it’s hard not to think of Slim Shady when listening to Jonezen.
Both rappers are lyrical assassins who use the mic as their weapon of choice, spitting bars with staccato wordplay that seems made for a mosh pit rather than a dance floor.

Dubbed “the next Eminem” by hip hop blogs, Jonezen has toured with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, recorded with Gucci Mane, and received radio airplay, but his career took a turn after almost dying from alcoholism.
Now based in Los Angeles, Jonezen has been on the comeback trail after recording a buzzed about mixtape, Live From Rehab. He also took home the 2014 LA Music Awards 2014 for Hip Hop Artist and Solo Performer of the year.
Crave is exclusively premiering Jonezen’s latest single “Bars,” a relentless, nu-metal meets hip hop track that feels like an assault on the senses.
Here’s what Jonezen had to say about the song, “To me ‘Bars’ is not only about re-introducing myself as an artist, but also making a statement. I wanted to go at some of the dudes, without naming names, who don’t respect the art form of lyricism in hip hop. It’s about actually rapping, actually honing and developing your craft as an artist and an emcee. I’m constantly working to develop my craft, being creative and pushing the envelope and making music thats authentic to who I am as a person.”
