Who is the Doctor? That’s a question asked by everyone who has joined the crew of the TARDIS on Doctor Who. And the answer is always changing because the Doctor himself is always changing. Peter Capaldi is entering his final season as the Twelfth Doctor, and it’s also the last year for showrunner Steven Moffat. But we fully expect that they’ll say goodbye to everyone’s favorite Time Lord in a spectacular fashion.
With Jenna Coleman’s departure, the Doctor has a new companion this season. Pearl Mackie is joining the cast as Bill. And while there isn’t much currently known about Bill, she’ll be bringing a fresh perspective to the TARDIS. In a new teaser trailer for the tenth season, Bill shares a few thoughts about the Doctor and his dual nature as a man of peace who is willing to go to war against the universe itself. Also along for the ride is Matt Lucas as Nardole, one of the Doctor’s most recent assistants…but probably not a true companion. If the Doctor Who tradition holds up, at least one of the Doctor’s traveling partners will meet a bad end, while the other will stay on to help the new Doctor adjust next season. We’re betting on Bill as this season’s survivor!
