The X-Men are coming to Fox, and Amy Acker will lead them! Well, that’s not technically true, but Acker has landed the female lead of the upcoming X-Men related TV series…even though her character isn’t a mutant.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the story that Acker has been cast as Kate Stewart, a woman separated from her husband, Reed; who will be portrayed by former True Blood star Stephen Moyer. However, the Stewart family will be forced back together when their children develop mutant powers, and they are forced to go on the run from a hostile government. Acker has previously starred in Person of Interest, Angel, and Alias, in addition to guest starring on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the first season.
For Marvel fans, the addition of Emma Dumont to the cast may also prove exciting. She’ll be playing Lorna Dane, the mutant heroine known as Polaris. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Polaris is also the daughter of Magneto and she shares his magnetic powers, but it’s unclear if that family connection will carry over to the series.

Percy Hynes White has also joined the cast as Andy, “a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.” Other confirmed cast members include Natalie Alyn Lind, Blair Redford, Jamie Chung, and Sean Teale.
The currently untitled X-Men TV series was created and written by Matt Nix, with Bryan Singer attached as an executive producer and the director of the pilot episode. It is expected to begin production soon, and remain in contention for a slot on next season’s schedule.
