Ultra Music Festival 2017 made a lot of noise this past weekend in downtown Miami and I’m not just referring to DJ Snake’s closing set.
Although Zhu, Diplo and Ice Cube lit up the stages, it was Ultra Music Festival’s surprise announcement that made international headlines, especially “Down Under”.

Damian Pinto, aka “The Voice of Ultra,” grabbed the mic after Ultra Music Festival 2017 Day 2 headliners Axwell & Ingrosso finished their Main Stage performance, to drop a bit of good news to the audience. “Ultra Music Festival, the global expansion is real,” says Pinto in the video below. “We’re moving to Australia. Give it up for our Aussie fans.”
Ultra is already an international music festival brand that has expanded across the globe to Ibiza, Spain; Seoul, Korea; Tokyo, Japan; Hvar and Split, Croatia; Singapore, Singapore; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Although information on the Australian event will be forthcoming, this marks Ultra’s fifth continent and 17th country in its 19 years, which is further proof that EDM is not only here to stay, but still growing.
