Exclusive Preview | Savage Things # 2

Imagine if the most dangerous children in the nation were given a dark purpose by a secret organization inside the U.S. government. That’s the beginning of the premise for Justin Jordan and Ibrahim Moustafa’s Savage Things, a new eight-issue miniseries from Vertigo Comics.

Twenty five years ago, Black Forest forcibly recruited the nation’s budding sociopaths and turned them into homegrown agents of terror who could spread fear and mayhem around the world. But they went too far, and Black Forest attempted to cover up their existence by eliminating their creations. It didn’t work, and now there’s hell to pay. The children have resurfaced as adults, and they’re bringing their brand of terror to the United States.

In the first issue of Savage Things, readers were also introduced to Abel, one of the most gifted killers among the recruited kids and the only known survivor of the Black Forest program until now. In CraveOnline’s exclusive preview for Savage Things # 2, a woman named Kira wants Abel’s help in tracking down his fellow Black Forest veterans. And while no restraint can truly hold Abel for long, Kira knows his secret. He allowed himself to be captured just so he could be placed in this room and given the opportunity to act against his “brothers.”

This issue was written by Justin Jordan (The Legacy of Luther Strode), with art by Ibrahim Moustafa. The cover was drawn by John Paul Leon. Here’s the official description from DC Comics:

Years after escaping the U.S. government’s clandestine global terrorist cell, Abel is back under surveillance. Being the only one of the trained killers to have ever left the Black Forest program, they need him to stop his former comrades before their terror campaign can escalate further. As the bad guys continue their bloody quest at a local hospital, Abel has to convince his handlers that the only way to stop these monsters is to become one. But even that might not be enough to stop Cain…

Savage Things # 2 will be released on Wednesday, April 5 in comic book stores everywhere.
