Gorillaz Announce First North American Tour Since 2010

Gorillaz have been on a tear lately, scoring the most successful debut in YouTube VR history with the 360 degree “Saturnz Barz (Spirit House),” launching a mixed reality app, releasing five new tracks from the eagerly anticipated Humanz album (out April 28 on Warner Bros.), and confirming a handful of headlining worldwide festival dates (Outside Lands, Quebec City Festival) including their own June 10 Demon Dayz festival at Dreamland Margate UK.

About the only thing they haven’t done is announce their own tour… that is until now. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett will take their virtual reality band across North America for the first time since the 2010’s Plastic Beach tour. Check out the tour poster below.

Of course, any Gorillaz show would not be complete without A-list cameos and the band has promised appearances by the likes of Jehnny Beth (Savages), Danny Brown, De La Soul, D.R.A.M., Anthony Hamilton, Grace Jones, Kelela, Mavis Staples, Vince Staples, Popcaan, Pusha T, and Kali Uchis, among others.

Tickets for the newly announced dates, which begin July 8 in Chicago and run through the fall, will be available for general on-sale this Friday, April 21 at Gorillaz.com.

Even better, tickets purchased online for select dates listed above will receive a choice of either a standard physical or standard digital copy of Humanz. Instructions will be sent via email shortly after ticket purchase. Check out the trailer to the Gorillaz app.
