Jeff Goldblum is Going Back to ‘Jurassic World 2’

A butterfly must have flapped its wings. There can’t be any other reason why Dr. Ian Malcolm would go back to Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, or Jurassic just-about-anything. But that’s exactly what’s going to happen in J.A. Bayona’s upcoming sequel Jurassic World 2.

Jeff Goldblum will be reprising his role as the chaos mathematician who accurately predicted the multiple drawbacks of genetic experimentation, and who escaped man-eating dinosaurs in both the original Jurassic Park and its first sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Jeff Goldblum will appear alongside Jurassic World co-stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the new Jurassic World film, which doesn’t currently have an official title.

Hollywood Reporter broke the story, but was unclear as to whether Dr. Ian Malcolm would be an important character in the film, or if he would only appear in a supporting or even cameo role.

Jeff Goldblum was a respected character actor in Hollywood for many years before he co-starred in Jurassic Park, appearing in the classic films NashvilleThe Big Chill and David Cronenberg’s remake of The Fly. But his iconic turn in Jurassic Park made Jeff Goldblum a household name, inspiring generations of comic impersonations of his trademarked “ah, um” line delivery. He starred in three of the biggest motion pictures of the 1990s – the first two Jurassic Park movies as well as Independence Day – and will soon be a part of the Marvel Studios sci-fi/fantasy superhero flick Thor: Ragnarok.

Jurassic World 2 (or whatever it’s going to be called) will arrive in theaters on June 22, 2018.
