Warner Bros. is Conjuring Up ‘The Conjuring 3’

It’s official: if there’s something weird in your neighborhood, if there’s something bad and it don’t look good, if you’re seeing things running through your head, and/or if an invisible man is sleeping in your bed… call Ed and Lorraine Warren, because the Conjuring movies are the ghostbustin’ franchise of the 21st century.

The protagonists of The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, whose exploits have led to two spin-offs about the killer doll “Annabelle” and upcoming spin-offs about their nemeses “The Nun” and “The Crooked Man”, are gearing up for their latest adventure. Deadline reports that The Conjuring 3, a third film based on the Warrens’ allegedly real supernatural adventures, is on the way from Warner Bros.

But get ready for some changes: James Wan, who directed the first two The Conjuring movies and co-wrote the second, is likely to let someone else direct this time, and merely produce the third installment. (The filmmaker is probably going to be busy directing the Aquaman movie anyway.) David Leslie Johnson, who co-wrote The Conjuring 2, will return to write the third installment.

Unless Warner Bros. can lure him back to the director’s chair, The Conjuring would become the third blockbuster horror franchise that James Wan co-created and then left to other filmmakers, after the immensely popular Saw movies and the successful supernatural series Insidious.

Details about the third installment of The Conjuring are currently under wraps, but the real-life Ed and Lorraine Warren had no shortage of supernatural investigations to choose from.
