Jamie Oliver has made Twitter let out a collective “wait, what?” after posting an odd comment on Lorde’s Instagram page.
20-year-old songwriter Lorde posted a photo to her Instagram account last night, accompanied by the caption: “in oslo looking like a president’s wife or some shit.” Oliver replied to the photo: “Your funny babe hope your well J”.
It wasn’t long before the internet began reacting to Oliver’s comment. One user wrote: “lorde has gone to #1 globally but she only truly reached her peak this morning when jamie oliver called her babe.” Another tweeted: “double date between lorde and jamie oliver and gordon ramsay with charli xcx is def in the works”.

Many Twitter users were taken aback by the exchange, with them questioning a) how Lorde and Oliver know one another (if they even do know one another, that is), and b) how they know why another so well that he’s confident in calling her “babe” on his public Instagram account. With that being said, the chef does have three daughters — Daisy Boo, Poppy Honey and Petal Blossom — so he could well be looking to wrangle them a few free tickets to one of the songwriter’s shows.
Lorde recently landed her first number one album on the Billboard 100 chart, with Melodrama dethroning Katy Perry’s latest LP, Witness.
