Ezra Koenig is releasing some new material on New Music Friday, but it’s probably not what you’re expecting from the Vampire Weekend frontman.

Koenig is the creator of “Neo Yokio” a new, six-episode anime premiering today on Netflix. The series is centered around Kaz Kaan (Jaden Smith), the youngest child in a family of “magistocrats” (think demon slayers), who also happens to be one of Neo Yokio’s most eligible bachelors.
An avid anime fan, Koenig calls Neo Yokio “a loving satire” that skews New York’s fashion and socialite scenes with a humorous, “woke” sense of fun and incoherency.
Aside from the perfect casting of Smith, Neo Yokio features Susan Sarandon, Jason Schwartzman, Steve Buscemi, Amandla Stenberg, Jude Law as a robot, and new music from Dev Hynes.
